dressed up casual

dressed up casual

So I ADORE this song by Parachute (she (for Liz)). The first line in the song is: "She's got no problems with secrets, she knows how to keep them..." Well, that is absolutely the opposite of me! Not that I can't keep a secret, it's just that its REALLY, REALLY hard for me when I'm excited. So my best friend, Erin, is in town from Brussels for a week. It's the last time that she's in the US before she becomes a mommmy in July, so I decided (with some friends) to throw a surprise baby shower. Good thing I'm not so great with prior planning, because I only had to keep the secret for a week! But still, it was really hard! The baby shower was on Sunday, so I can now post that I wore this outfit shopping for the shower.

So I am totally rocking my roommates boots here, the ones that I wanted to borrow during my remix. Everything else in this outfit is at least 3 years old, if not older. I tend to be a little bit of a pack rat when it comes to clothes and have a lot of things that were purchased without thought of how they would work on a daily basis - just how they would work that night. This blog has really opened my eyes to remixing (thank you, Kendi), and working to develop my personal style while incorporating trends! It's amazing how certain things that are trendy when you buy them, can still be worn as trends evolve and times change with just a few styling adjustments. Are there any trends that you have stuck with as you've developed your own personal style? Any trends that you are looking forward to as spring comes?
