an hour for Starbucks

Clara was nice enough to take pictures for me both at the train station and today because the travel tripod that I got for the trip broke right after taking these pictures. That's why there are no outfit pictures from Friday. The travel tripod was a good idea in theory, but I should have expected it - I mean, you get what you pay for, and it was less than $20. Anyway, this is right out on Avenue Louise near Erin's house. She literally lives in the middle of the city of Brussels. It's really great because everything is within walking distance. And if you don't want to walk, there's a great tram/subway system.

The weird thing about Brussels, no Starbucks. Well, there are 3, but they are at the airport, so they don't count. Okay, so maybe that's not so weird. But, they only thing my mom asked for from Belgium was a Starbucks mug. Good thing we had a day trip to Antwerp, the fashion capital of Belgium, planned. This is what I wore since it was a pretty enough day. Everyone at Starbucks thought it was great to have Americans in there (I am sure they were disappointed by the stereotype when I ordered a Grande and not a Venti).

I got my mom her mug, and then we walked around the shopping areas and went to the most interesting public restroom. It was a toilet themed store call 'to the loo', where you pay 50c to go (very common in Europe) and then you get a coupon to spend it at the store. They had silly gag gifts as well as useful things like potty seats for children. The man working, I can only assume he was the owner, was very proud of his store! As we were leaving, my friends were nice enough to take me to an electronics store to pick up a new tripod!
