totally unintentional

I just realized that for the second Tuesday in a row, I have worn this top. It got me to think about remixing and how blogging has really taught me to make more out of what I have. Then, as I sat down to write this post I got an email from my friend, Emily, asking if she thought it was possible for her to remix her closet for the rest of the year based on my experience with Kendi's 30 for 30 remix that I did last winter. Possible? Absolutely!

I think that when you aren't taking daily pictures of what you're wearing (most people in the world), you can get stuck wearing the same outfits over and over the same exact ways. I mean, that's what I used to do. So it's easy to forget that every piece in your closet has endless possibilities!

I wish I could say that I learned this lesson right at the beginning of blogging, but even right before and after my 30 for 30 remix this winter, I shopped to try to keep my outfits for my blog fresh. But after nearly a year of taking (almost) daily outfit pictures, I think I have really learned that you don't need new clothes to keep your outfits interesting, you just have to get a little creative! I will say, that it is a little easier to get creative when you limit yourself to a couple of items that you are looking to remix. That's why the 30 for 30 is such a great exercise! There was even something on the Today show (my favorite show EVER!!) on pairing down your closet to feel like you have more to wear.

So make it your mission to pick a couple of tops and see how many different ways you can wear them! Believe it or not, when Annie and I were playing dress up in my closet, I mentioned wanting to remix this shirt a couple more ways - and now I have (and have even more ideas)!
