black and white

DSC_0018

So I love this skirt (and it's blue and red twin). It just fits nicely. It's floaty and comfortable. I think I have just really developed a love for skirts in general. I mean, they're super comfortable, more professional than shorts, and let's face it, they're cute. I think after I tackle making a dress, I am going to try to duplicate some of my favorite skirts!

So here I am, doing some silly black and white pattern/print mixing. I love this tee with the guitars on it. It makes me feel just a tiny bit rock and roll (you know, the kind of rock and roll that plays a 12-string acoustic guitar). And if the shirt isn't rock and roll, how about my messy-curly 'do?

Some of my pictures turned out kinda blurry. Not great for outfit shots, but they do kinda make pretty pictures!

nice light

DSC_0048

I didn't have time to take my outfit shots on Monday, not to mention it wasn't a great outfit. So when I was running late on Tuesday morning, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get them in either. I ran errands during lunch and went to the fabric store straight from work and when I got home, I was surprised by the nicest light ever!

I had kind of a rough/emotional day, so I was really pleased when these pictures turned out so nicely. This outfit was one that I was just so-so about when I put it on. I mean, it was over 80 outside, so a tank top was a must, but I work in an air conditioned office, so I also needed a sweater. But as the day went on, I liked it more and more. I mean, who doesn't just love a skirt with zebras on it!

everything is closed on Easter

DSC_0030

I have really been wanting to sew something recently. I have been super inspired by Megan's projects on design diary and Jessica's self made dress and pants! So my mom and I talked about what I wanted to make and looked through what she had, and I decided on an easy pattern I had purchased years before. We then headed to the fabric store only to realize that everything is closed on Easter Sunday.

I did end up picking up some fabric after work on Tuesday, so I'm hoping to find the time to make the dress this weekend! I'm kinda excited about getting started!

    owl shirt

    DSC_0015

This is my new owl shirt. I bought it in Brussels at Zara and I love it. Oh, and do you like my new amazing haircut? I am totally in love with it! Vanessa was conservative with the length, she layered it, but not too much (it can be a little shocking to go from all one length hair to super layered hair). Okay - I think one and a half posts about my hair is enough.

I started my day with a 6.2 mile easy run (hello, marathon training!), then went to Starbucks to edit pictures and play on my computer, and spend some quality time with my roomie. She even let me tag along on her work dinner at Passion Fish. It was kinda awesome! (I did end up swapping the flops for my wedges later in the day).

    million dollar haircut

    DSC_0009

First off, this is not my haircut. I took these pictures before work or during lunch (see - I'm so far behind that I can't even remember when I took these pictures) and I went for my haircut right after work. I haven't had a proper haircut in eleven months. I did go once in November, but the lady barely trimmed my hair, and actually didn't cut the front at all. I don't count that as a haircut - I count it as a waste of time and money. That is why I went back to Vanessa, one of the owners of Maude

See, I have the nicest mother in the world, and she booked me an appointment with Vanessa on my 20th birthday since I had just been broken up with, and had tried to cut my own hair. It was one of the best haircuts of my life! I went to her for a few years, but without my mom footing the bill, and with my friend Justin apprenticing, I started to get my hair done for $40 from him (haircuts and highlights). Fast forward nearly 9 years (I am getting old!) and I can do my own highlights and needed a super, amazing cut and only one name came to mind - Vanessa! She's on the pricy side, but worth every penny!

It's awesome! You'll just have to trust me for now though, well - until my next post!

    not jet lagged...?

    DSC_0232

After the tube debacle on the way to the airport our flight actually ended up delayed by 20 minutes. To make matters worse, it took a good hour to go through US customs. I ended up getting to bed around midnight only to wake up around 6am. It was colder than I was used to as well. I was pretty much a zombie all day, but I made it through work and visiting with my mom after work as well!

Good thing I had this sweater in my closet to brighten things up! (Lauren also has it, and I have it in lavender, teal, and purple as well!) This is an outfit that I just threw together, but I really like the way it turned out! It was a little funny though, I was wearing this outfit when Kendi posted this outfit - great minds think alike and roll their boyfriend jeans paired with wedges and bright colours!
