summer version

I love 3/4 length sleeves. They're just perfect for when its in between warm and cold, like the fall, or perhaps my freezing cold office! We are on a mission to cut our energy usage at our office, but even with the thermostat set to 75, it's freezing at my desk. I am thinking that my office probably needs dual climate zones, but while we are on an energy conservation mission, we're also, like the rest of the country, budget conscious, so for now, I just need to bring a sweater.

I also am so happy that I had the time during lunch this day to take my pictures at Lake Thoreau. It's not my preference to take my outfit photos midday, but if I have to do them then, I am sure glad to have such a wonderful location. There is a trail that runs a loop around the lake that is one of my favorite short run routes. From my house it's exactly 3.5 miles, perfect for an easy run. Speaking of running, I did 10 miles with Jenny and Amanda this morning and feel amazing! Bring on the marathon if 10 miles feels like an easy run!

easy monday

This is what I wore a week ago from yesterday. After all the apprehension from the hurricane, I can hardly remember that far back to write about that day! I probably didn't feel like blow drying my hair, hence the wavy mess. And the only bit of colour I could muster was this great scarf as a belt!

I think my brain is getting fried with the summer winding down. I love summer, it's my favorite time of year, but I think I'm ready for some of my fall activities to get started! I'll be coaching a morning swim practice for a 10&under group, I'll have more dive lessons, and of course, race season! If fall must come, at least it's bringing some fun with it!

So I have still yet to pair navy with my mint coloured JCrew shorts, but how about with these yellow ones!? I have been wearing all three pairs of short over and over and over again since I got them. They're comfortable and seem to go with everything! As much as I love the mint ones, I think these yellow ones are my favorite. They make me think of lemons, lemon ice-cream in particular! It's one of the things you can always count on having at my grannie's house. She make meringues quite often and since you need to so something with the yolks of the eggs, she learned to make lemon ice-cream with them.

There really is nothing better in this world than lemon ice-cream with strawberry sauce and coconut flakes. Especially when you put the ice-cream through a spaetzle maker and it looks like spaghetti! It's called "spaghetti ice" and it's THE BEST!

the calm before

As the NoVA, DC metro area prepares to get hit by a Hurricane tonight, I decided that my best prep would be to enjoy some coffee and get some work done on all my little projects (this blog included). What could be better to wear than some super comfy clothes!

For some reason, I am able to get so much more work done at Starbucks than I am anywhere else. I think it's because their are fewer distractions and more background noise. Karen from the Reston Patch even calls the Starbucks I'm working at right now "her office." Hopefully she doesn't mind sharing with me this morning!

old favorites

This sweater is 8 years old. To put that in perspective, it would be going into third grade this year. If you look really closely at it, you'll see that it's kinda become more connected pills than knit. But I guess that is what you get when you toss your 'hand wash/lay flat to dry' sweaters into the washer and dryer with all the rest of your things. The good news, I only paid $15 for it, so I figure that I've almost gotten my moneys worth out if it! ;)

Yesterday I asked a question on Facebook about what I should do with my hair. I feel like I need a change, but it doesn't have to be a drastic one, I just want a new way to wear it. Weigh in and let me know what you think! I'd also really appreciate the 'like,' if you wouldn't mind - I'm 17 away from 100!!

So I'm a little behind with posting my outfits again, life getting in the way of blogging again. But I have a good reason, I have been playing with my camera! After writing that guest post for improvephotography.com, I have been playing with both my cameras (my DSLR and my waterproof point-and-shoot)! I have been dreaming up projects and am excited to try to replicate images that I take with my DSLR using just my point and shoot camera. Basically, I am out to prove that you don't need a fancy camera to take great photos!

Anyone have any photo questions or suggestions for my while I play around? And feel free to hop on over to my photography blog to keep tabs on some of my projects!
