Staycation - day two

Staycation day two started with a walk to Starbucks. Then filled out afternoon with some slacklining and another trip to the pool. I think after our roudy night of dancing, we were a bit worn out, so having an easy day in the neighborhood was just what the doctor ordered.

After out lazy day, we walked over to Annie's for some BBQing and hanging out (which actually turned into a short nap for me... guess I really was worn out!). I brought over a shake the baby... but unfortunately the baby also got dropped. Probably for the best, since we had already done quite a bit of drinking that day. :)

Staycation - day zero & one

Someone told me that recalling recent events helps you remember them in the long term. I usually take pictures to help relive my memories, so I thought I would do a couple of posts about my Reston Staycation.

This is the second year that Jenny and I have planned a Memorial Day Weekend Staycation. Jenny confided in me that when I suggested it last year, she thought I was a little crazy, but after having so much fun, she was totally on board to make this year even better! And it was!! We started with going to the pool for a bit, having dinner at her house, rocking a 14 mile run, followed by more pool time, AND she even organized a surprise birthday party - which was totally a surprise, being 18 days after my birthday ;)

When and Where:
  • Friday and Saturday, May 25th and 26th, 2012
  • North Shore Pool, the Treehouse, Lake Thoreau Pool, and the Palace

Mid May

DSC_0444

Oh wow! So much has changed since these pictures! First, I made it thought Bike to Work day and it was a total success. Just about 400 riders stopped by Reston Town Center on their way to work. My nephew, Rowan, was our youngest volunteer. Though the school didn't give him an excused tardy which I think is weird. He only missed an hour and it was to do community service. I know that school is important, but did he really miss more than the kid who's parents pulled them out for 3 days to go to Disney World?

Second, the Staycation was a complete success! I need to make an online scrapbook to share. It was just amazing! Because of that, my hair is a lot blonder and I am a bit tanner.

Third, I ran a half marathon, rested for 2 days and started 2 month crazy workout plan with an easy 4.25 mile run that resulted in acute tendonitis, so now I am in a boot for the next 10 days.
