Yeah, yeah, yeah, getting back into the habit of getting dressed and taking pictures also means that I am "cheating" a bit by pairing super cute shorts with white tops and a belt and calling them outfits. But at least I am getting back into the swing of things!

So instead, let me tell you about my sunglasses. They are RayBan "Emma" in light havana, and I had to do quite a bit of searching to find them!

I might be just a little obsessed with Giuliana Rancic (after watching Giuliana and Bill and seeing how real they are), so when I saw that the sunglasses she was wearing were RayBan (aka not over $200) I decided that I had to have them too. I googled "what sunglasses did Giuliana wear last night?" and up they popped! I searched for them on Amazon, found them and ordered them! Hooray! But then I got a message that they didn't actually have them. I tried three other places too... all sold out. Then I got a message from the RayBan site that they were in stock! I ordered them and they came the Friday of the Staycation! I was so happy!!

And me and my RayBan Emma sunglasses have been living happily ever after!

back to getting dressed and taking pictures!

My blogging hiatus started because it seems that when the seasons change, I have a hard time adjusting to the change in lighting and what that means to my photos. Okay, or I just got lazy!

But in my defense, I was incredibly busy! I mean, I had a staycation, ran a half maration, got injured from said half marathon, Erin visited and James turned one, and one of my best girl friends got married. It was busy business here in Reston!

I knew that beginning to take outfit pictures again meant that I had to start working on my wardrobe again too. I couldn't just wear shorts and a swim tee everyday anymore!(guilty - that is what you missed the whole time I wasn't blogging!)

This outfit pairs my new favorite shirt with a newer colour of my favorite shorts and a borrowed necklace from Betsy. In fact, the first time I wore this shirt with these shorts Reid told me I had to take pictures because I looked really great. Too bad because of my defiant nature I didn't obey. ;) But I can't take all the credit for this outfit... because it looks a lot like this one!

fit style: I'm a convert

Jenny has been telling me forever just how amazing lululemon is, but I resisted buying anything from there because of the price, until now. I finally broke down and treated myself to two tops and a sports bra; thinking that if I didn't like them, I could return them, no sweat.

Turns out, I didn't just like everything, I LOVED it!

I wore this top on my long run on Saturday, and again to walk to Starbucks with my mom. I love that the bra is supportive enough (I don't need much, but I think it would work for larger girls too) to run in, and comfortable enough to lounge in. Let's face it, I like to be equally active and lazy!

Lululemon also isn't lying when they say their stuff doesn't smell after you work out in it. It's probably some sort of Canadian magic ;).

Basically, I am lululemon's newest fangirl!

Betsy style

This is my roommate Besty! She has been staying at the Palace this summer while she finished up her last practical for her Masters in Occupational Therapy. She's the total package, beauty, brains, and a huge heart! Not only does she work in the selfless field of OT, but she specializes in working with the geriatric population, specifically those with dementia. Ah-may-zing!

While I was on hiatus from dressing/shooting/blogging, I convinced Bets to let me take her pictures before we headed out to roommate (minus 1) dinner at the Melting Pot bar. (yes, that means we also got to see Reid!)

I love that all these pictures really show what a fun and spontaneous person Betsy is! The whole house is going to miss her so much when she heads back to NC at the end of this month.

Amanda's rehearsal

I am so happy that Amanda and Adam tied the knot! Their weekend festivities were a blast too! This was what I wore to the rehearsal dinner on one of the hottest days of the year. Their wedding day was actually the hottest day of the year, so they only went outside for pictures for literally 10 minutes, and didn't even bring the wedding party, but I digress.

The group photos at the bottom of this post are the bridesmaids inside the Westin Alexandria, (click here to see the quick portraits that I took as well) while we were waiting to head to the waterfront for some pictures before dinner.

We were able to get some great group shots of the girls (below), the guys, the bride and groom (click here to see the post on my photography site), and the whole bunch!

to a wedding shower at Lake Anne

I was so out of habit of taking outfit pictures at this point that I didn't even bring my tripod with me to Amanda and Adam's wedding shower. Hindsight being 20/20, that means I also totally missed out on getting some amazing group shots, like the ones that I got at their rehearsal dinner (and that I will share later).

This is a borrowed dress (that I have had for way too long and really need to return) from Annie. I wasn't so sure about the length, but after getting compliment after compliment on it, I think it's a winner. Though, I must have known that from the beginning, because I did trace the dress to create a pattern, and then duplicate the top of it. I am still working on how I want the skirt. But I digress...

After A and A's shower, Betsy and I went to the Melting Pot bar to have some cheese, a drink, and to see Reid. Even though I had already been complimented on how I looked by several other people that day, it meant the world to me when Reid said how nice I looked. Maybe it's shallow, but I like hearing that I look nice! :)

favorite shirt, favorite day

This is such an old outfit! It was the first time that I wore, my now favorite, chambray shirt! Funny story about this shirt, Annie bought it first. She wore it the day after getting it on a road trip to see Becca and I lusted after it. Then she wore it again in a different way when we went out for dinner a week or so later, and then again, styled differently when we hung out around my birthday.

Finally, I just gave in and got it! I am so happy I did too!!

Over the weekend of Amanda's wedding, I wore it and a white one just like it. I didn't even pack any other shirts. :)

This was also an amazing day. I love these pictures that Reid took of me. They make me remember how much fun we had together.

it's been a while

It has been so long since I have not just written and posted an outfit, but even longer since I have taken outfit shots! I guess you could say that I have been on summer vacation.

This summer has been amazing so far! I started with the staycation and just has gotten better and better from there! I have super busy with work, but all in all, even with all the work, it has been amazing!

So I wore this outfit over the staycation and just LOVE it! I felt so guilty for buying this skirt, because even on sale, it was about $40. But it has been so worth it! I wear it all the time.

Staycation: day three

I know, every one has been waiting on the edge of their seats to hear about the final day of The Staycation Srikes Back but it was really more of the same.

Some sidewalk chalk, some bubbles, some roller blading, more slacklineing, some pool time, and more amazing beverages!

My parents even came over for a drink!
