my unplanned puppy, Penny

Penny 2319

If you had told me at the beginning of this year that I was going to adopt a puppy, I would have told you that you were crazy. But 8 days before I turned 31, I met and adopted Penny. It wasn't something that I planned, but it wasn't really an impulse decision either. My sister had texted me two or so weeks before, letting me know that she was helping a friend find a new home for a former co-worker's puppy. She asked if I knew anyone who wanted a young golden retriever puppy. I started thinking about it and kind of liked the idea of getting a dog.

So we arranged that I would meet Penny on May 1st and foster her for 3 days to see if I liked her and wanted to adopt her. About an hour after meeting her, I knew she was my dog. Since it was a "private" adoption, I just got to keep her. I transferred her shot records to my vet (from when my family had dogs/cats) and took her in to get microchipped. So I took her to the vet on May 3rd and she was officially mine.

Not everything has been perfect since getting Penny, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! I couldn't imagine my life with out her now!

When I snapped these pictures, Penny was super afraid of my camera. :)
