outlet success

outlet outfit 4

While at the beach, Reid and I tackled the outlets. Reid was under the impression that the outlets are a magical place where you can find exactly what you are looking for at an amazing deal. What he learned was the truth about outlet shopping, you have to go with an open mind, looking for deal on things without a particular item in mind. Because chances are, you're not going to find exactly what you're looking for. The truth about shopping is that when you need a specific item, especially a wardrobe staple, it's best to shop in season and be open to paying full price. Not that you can't find amazing wardrobe staples on the sale rack! It's just that sometimes a full price item that is perfect beats out 3 sale items for the same amount that are almost right.

When outlet shopping, I usually set out to just look and see what is available. Call me a clothing (construction) snob, but usually the factory stores don't hold up to my standards. My favorite wardrobe pieces are beautifully constructed, and thus, can handle the beating they get with my daily wear (being thrown in the bottom of a swim bag, washed in a washing machine, and machine dried... I don't have time for hand washing!). I much prefer a sale rack at a traditional store to a factory store brand. That said, I did find this super cute top and wonderfully comfy sweater at the Banana Factory Store!

I don't know about you, but I love, Love, LOVE navy prints! Even better when it's a childish pattern or shape done in a sophisticated way. I mean, who doesn't want a shirt with butterflies on it! And, spoiler alert, you're going to see this sweater on the blog a lot as we transition into fall. It's super comfortable and chic all at the same time!

Question: Do you like shopping the outlets or are sale racks at regular stores where you hunt for bargains?
